My Story
I started my music career in 2009, fully embracing the supportive role at home while staying true to the love of songwriting.
The most productive wave was 2011-2013. In November of 2011, my beloved dog, Brittni, was bit by a rattlesnake while on a hike. She survived, but there was a two-week period where we didn’t know what the outcome might be. She was in a hospital recovering and I was inconsolable.
It’s often said that boredom produces the greatest art, and I agree. That two-week period alone with two acoustic guitars, a few alternate tunings, and bare-bones recording equipment, gave birth to Breaking Down: Acoustic Instrumentals.
That project was, by far, the most wide-reaching piece of art I’ve ever made. A few years later, after selections from the album had been used in various films, I decided to remaster and repurpose the album, along with two others, as a yoga companion titled Yoga Guitar.
I’ve been a guitar player since my preteen years, enthralled with every facet of the venture. At some point during college, I wanted to go deeper into an understanding of why an instrument sounds the way it does. I took advanced classical guitar, learned how to play fingerstyle, and bought used acoustics just to disassemble them.
In 2006, I began to focus on luthiery. I’d travel a couple towns over on my days off to watch a professional builder work wonders, soaking up as much information as possible. These days, I build purely for the joy of it.
